Sculpture Garden
4:00 PM
There’s a place in Minneapolis, Minnesota called the
Sculpture Garden. I knew that it would be under construction in the very near
future and thus temporarily closed, so when my parents came to visit, I figured
we should take the opportunity to go check it out.
The most famous of the sculptures is the spoon and cherry.
Pictures of the cherry spoon are commonly seen when searching for pictures of
Minneapolis because of the city skyline that can be seen in the background. It
was fun to see the other people taking pictures with the spoon. Many took the I’m-holding-the-spoon approach (guilty),
while others got a bit more creative with it and picked up the cherry by its
stem or took a bite out of the cherry.
We walked into the greenhouse because, well, we were there
already and we didn’t really have a plan so why not? I’m glad we did. The sun
was just starting to set so the light bouncing off the glass was perfect.
We then continued to walk around outside and look at the
other sculptures, or what was left of them. There were a few that were already
taken down for construction or possibly other reasons but those that remained
were cool.
Between the sun, the symmetry, the autumn leaves and colors,
the sculptures and design, the chilly weather, and my parents visiting, it was
a perfect day.
